Evoking scrolled natural forms - from botanical to nautical - designer Sebastian Herkner draws on Rakumba’s heritage of textile lampshade craftmanship to create the Volute collection.
Herkner challenges skills honed over time with new lampshade geometries previously considered near impossible. Leveraging Rakumba’s design ethos of “effortless complexity”, Volute pushes craft to its limits, delivering distinguished contemporary presence with the softness of fabric.
With two shells of richly textured customizable fabrics embracing a warm glowing light, Volute is available in pendant, wall, table and floor editions.

Sebastian Herkner
Sebastian Herkner is a German designer and a graduate of HfG Offenbach University of Art and Design. In 2006, he founded his eponymous studio, where his work spans furniture, objects, interior architecture, and exhibition design. His approach is defined by a deep appreciation for traditional craftsmanship, combined with a curiosity for modern technologies and a bold exploration of colour, materiality, and texture.
