Trace works in curves rather than straight runs. The backrests are not fixed to the seats but rest on them and move around them, so a composition can be opened outward for a room people pass through, or closed in on itself for one they sit in. Modules connect in both directions, which is what lets the system read as one continuous form rather than a row of parts. Seat modules are a plywood structure with elasticated webbing over varying layers of non-deformable foam, lined and upholstered, on wooden feet with glides and a connecting mechanism between modules. The backs are unstructured hand-carved non-deformable foam in varying densities, lined and upholstered. Upholstery is non-removable. Supplied assembled. Three modules — a back, a small seat and a large seat — from which Secolo publishes five standard compositions, the largest a little over ten metres across.
