Yamata takes Tateyama's forms apart and makes a system of them. Straight, curved and terminal modules, with or without backs, combine into anything from a short run to a closed circle — and because the base is lacquered rather than upholstered, it reads as a plinth the seating sits on rather than something the seating conceals. Seat and back are an intricate plywood structure — elasticated webbing under varying layers of non-deformable foam on the seat, hand-carved foam on the back — lined and upholstered in Secolo's fabrics and leathers or a customer's own material. The continuous MDF base is hand-finished and lacquered in matte or high gloss, in any RAL colour, with felt glides. Upholstery non-removable. Supplied assembled. Seventeen modules: seat-only elements at 42 cm high and elements with a backrest at 73 cm, straight, curved and terminal.
