Reflet IV is a four-candle centrepiece in solid brass. The cylinders are fully reversible, functioning as waterproof, narrow vases when inverted, designed to give a single stem or branch the same clarity and presence as a flame.

The base of each piece is sandcast, resulting in a rough surface that retains the imprint of the casting process. Above it, four polished brass tubes rise up in clean vertical lines. Designer Rybakken has carefully tuned the proportions so that the diameter of each tube is close to that of the candle itself. By visually elongating the length of the candles, they feel like a natural extension of the cylinder rather than a separate element. By raising the light source above the surface, the pieces lift the flame or a single stem away from the surrounding objects, allowing it to stand apart from the visual clutter of everyday life.

Norwegian designer Daniel Rybakken is based in Gothenburg, Sweden where he founded Studio Daniel Rybakken in 2008 after studying design at the Oslo School of Architecture and the School of Arts & Crafts in Gothenburg. He has since become one of Scandinavia’s most highly awarded designers, particularly known for his explorations of light and shadow.
