Captain Hook began as a single photograph in the Ceccotti archive, dated to the 1940s. From that one image the original Guglielmo Ulrich prototype was reconstructed, restoring a type of object that has largely disappeared from contemporary rooms. The case is solid American walnut, tapering to a point almost two metres below the dial.
The dial is engraved brass with the numerals filled in black enamel; the hands and the wall fixing are burnished brass. The brass is left untreated, so it will oxidise and darken with time.

Guglielmo Ulrich
Guglielmo Ulrich was an Italian architect, furniture designer, and painter. He was born to a notable family of Danish origin. In 1924, Ulrich enrolled in the Scuola Speciale di Architettura at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera. He finished his studies at Politecnico di Milano in 1927 and soon became a very influential figure in modern Italian design.
