’Åkande’ means Water Lily in Danish and is a furniture series designed by Jonas Lyndby Jensen, former winner of the Finn Juhl Prize. The Åkande Side Table perfectly pairs with classic lounge chairs, such as those of Finn Juhl. With details, such as the edge, the table is both neat and practical. The table is available in solid oak and walnut.
The series, which counts two stools, one side table, and a desk, is characterized by its irresistible detailing around the edges, reminiscent of a single leaf from a Water Lily. This feature strives to soften the appearance of the hard wood and give the design a living and organic shape. In order to achieve this result, wood as the sole material plays a crucial role, as artificial materials would never allow for the same degree of tactility, warmth and sensuousness.
BRAND HIGHLIGHT
OneCollection's guiding principle is clear and crucial: they only embark on a project, whether it’s creating a new chair, curating an interior, or fostering a renowned brand, if it emanates positive energy from the start. Over the past 25 years, their production has found a home in our own workshop in Ringkøbing. In a pivotal move in 2022, they took over the company Schou Andersen Møbelfabrik, and with this decision, they now produce the largest part of the collection in Denmark.

With a background as both a cabinetmaker and furniture designer, Jonas Lyndby Jensen has a broad understanding of both craft and design, especially of wooden furniture based on the Scandinavian traditions. For more than 10 years he has developed, prototyped and exhibited furniture design cooperating with various manufacturers in Denmark and internationally.
