Zizipho Poswa
Zizipho Poswa is a South African sculptor and ceramic artist based in Cape Town. She is internationally recognised for her monumental ceramic and bronze sculptures that celebrate African womanhood, cultural heritage, and ancestral knowledge.
We were looking for an archetypal shape that runs through all cultures, and Zizi was the obvious choice for us, especially given the beautiful large-scale pieces she has been doing more recently. We wanted something with the anchoring soulfulness Africa brings. We also believe that texture and evidence of hand work is becoming more important and design so this offered us the opportunity to combine these elements and simultaneously stretch ourselves to technically create a handmade textural planter that was repeatable in production.
